Uncorked Events was created to bring the Bay Area the ultimate in wine lifestyle events. Whether you are learning to pair champagne with food in an intimate sit-down gathering, attending a Pinot Noir tasting at a new art gallery or at a majestic company party in the heart of Napa Valley, we provide the perfect wine event every time. Uncorked Events was founded on the notion that enjoying wine should always be fun, relaxed, social and educational – never stuffy or snooty! While wine is the focus of our events, we often incorporate gourmet food pairing, art, music and fashion. This seamless blend of sensory elements turns our wine events into truly memorable gatherings.

Don Davis – Founder & Chief Wine Officer

Don Davis founded Uncorked Events to combine his greatest passions: wine, event planning, and bringing people together to share special experiences with long lasting memories.

Beyond the event world, Don is the owner of BIN 38 Wine Bar & Restaurant in the Marina District of San Francisco. Before founding Uncorked Events in May of 2006, Don spent over four years in the wine industry, most recently as Director of Business Development for Wine.com creating strategic partnerships. He also served as the top sales executive for New Vine Logistics, interacting with owners and principals at hundreds of wineries throughout California.

Prior to working in wine, Don worked in technology sales and marketing for seven years where his responsibilities included planning numerous business seminars and events of all sizes. In addition to corporate events, he is deeply involved in planning large scale fund raising events. Don currently serves on the board of directors of Hands On Bay Area and runs the event committee. He has planned over 55 highly successful fund raising events with attendance of up to 1500 people.

Don received his master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications and his bachelor’s degree in Communications Studies, both from Northwestern University. If there is one thing he is more passionate about than wine, it is definitely Northwestern Wildcat football. His favorite color of wine is a deep Northwestern purple.

Nicole Burke – Sommelier & Wine Educator

Nicole Burke received a degree in Food Science from University of California at San Diego before moving to the Bay Area. Nicole has worked with notable chefs such as George Morrone, Scott Giambastiani and Tyler Florence. She has been recognized by the James Beard Foundation and has earned Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence. Nicole has worked as Beverage Director for Jeffrey Chadrow’s Asia de Cuba and as Wine Director for highly regarded Viognier.

Nicole was recently recognized as one of the Bay Area’s “Up and Coming Sommeliers” by the San Francisco Chronicle and is a regular component of the Chronicle’s Wine Section Tasting Panel and a regular contributor to Patterson’s Beverage Journal for Spirit and Wine Education. You will see her consulting stamp on several cutting edge wine lists around the Bay Area from popular Swig Lounge to Maria Manso’s World Cuisine in San Rafael and as one of the faces of the recently released Roth Vodka.

Currently Nicole is the Wine Director Director at Pat Kuleto’s high-profile new restaurant, the Epic Roasthouse on the waterfront in downtown San Francisco.

Gwendolyn Wilson – Wine Educator

Gwendolyn Wilson is the former education coordinator for the Wine Spectator School, an online wine education program that teaches and promotes wine appreciation. She also holds an advanced certification from the London-based Wine & Spirit Education Trust.

While working at the Wine Spectator School, Gwendolyn gained retail experience by moonlighting at Best Cellars, an innovative wine retailer based in New York. She was also a core member of FunWithWine.com, helping to organize and execute large & small tastings. Her educational pursuits in wine have led her to travel extensively in wine regions, including France, Italy, Oregon, Chile and of course, California, meeting with top winemakers all over.

Beyond teaching in San Francisco, Gwendolyn manages the Wine.com retail store in Berkeley and continues to work with the Wine Spectator School, as well as writing educational content for other wine websites.

Gwendolyn’s passion is contagious, no matter what level wine drinker you are. Her style is easy-going, amusing, enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
