Summer Down Under: The Wines of Australia & New Zealand

While San Francisco is in mid-winter, we can pretend we’re lounging in southern hemisphere heat on February 2nd. Uncorked Events will transport you to the warm beaches of Australia & the fertile wine country of New Zealand.

Can’t You Hear, Can’t You Hear The Thunder?
We won’t have shrimp on the barbi or Men at Work performing (though you never know with us), but we will introduce you to well over 100 of the best wines from Australia & New Zealand. And because one can’t live on wine alone, we’ll have beer tasting stations featuring some of the best brews from each countries.

No Vegemite, Just Great Wine
These two countries represent extraordinary quality to value wines and are always crowd pleasers. You will try a wide variety of wines including an array of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling from Australia. On the New Zealand side, you’ll sample Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Bordeaux blends. Did you also know that Australia makes world-class dessert wines? Or that Tasmania is home to great sparkling wine?

World-Class Wineries
You will have the unique opportunity to sample wines from these prestigious producers: Amisfield, Ata Rangi, Brokenwood, Cloudy Bay, d’Arenberg, Elderton, Giant Steps, Grosset, Henschke, Hewitson, Jim Barry, Kilikanoon, Leeuwin Estate, Mohua, Penley, Peter Lehman, Plantagenet, Quartz Reef, Robert Oatley, Spy Valley, St. Hallett, Trevor Jones, Two Hands, Vasse Felix & many more.

A Classic Venue
The historic General’s Residence in sets an appropriately beautiful stage for these delicious and fun-loving wines. Come experience the historical splendor of this San Francisco institution overlooking aquatic park perched high atop upper Fort Mason. And while the Aussies & Kiwis may be a pretty laid back bunch, they will knock your socks off with the quality, precision and care of their wine making.

The Extras
Rounding out the night will be an incredible gourmet cheese and charcuterie spread and hearty hors d’oeuvres from A.G. Ferrari and the smooth sounds of DJ Sol spinning Aussie & Kiwi pop classics.
