Vino Ibérico: The Wines of Spain & Portugal
The Magic
If you’ve ever been to Spain or Portugal, you know all about the magical feeling that washes over you as you enter their shores. The people, food, culture, nightlife, beaches and WINE of these two countries that comprise the Iberian peninsula are unrivaled.
When & Where
Please join us on Thursday, September 20th as we savor the wines of Spain and Portugal. We return to the cutting edge contemporary photography of the SF Camerawork Gallery to provide the perfect backdrop to these wines of distinct history, value, quality and sexiness! You will sample over 60 wines from premier importers and distributors.

The Wine
On the Spanish front, you will taste the hearty reds of the Priorat and Ribera del Duero, the classics from Rioja, bubbly from Penedès , as well as up and coming regions like Jumilla, Toro, Rías Baixas and La Mancha. You will taste lots of Tempranillo (the great grape of Spain), along with Cabernet, Garnacha, Albariño, Cava, Carinena, Viura and many more.
When it comes to Portugal, you all have likely had their port - and you will try many on this evening including Ruby, Late Bottle Vintage, Tawny and true Vintage port. What you may be less familiar with are the great still wines of Portugal. How about a little Alentejo or Bairrada, or perhaps a little Vinho Verde? Come experience some of these little known gems that are often in the shadow of this Port empire.
The Extras
Artisinal Spanish cheeses, olives and cured meats will be provided from A.G. Ferrari and don’t be surprised if a little Flamenco heats up the evening.
When they think a wine is extraordinary, Spainards say “Beber este vino es como hablar con Dios” –tasting this wine is like talking with God., hopefully you just might concur by night’s end.
